If a safety switch has tripped: unplug appliances, then try resetting it. If it holds, plug things back in one at a time — the appliance that trips it again is your culprit. If it will not reset at all, stop there and call us.

If you can smell burning or see scorching: do not reset anything. If it is safe to reach the main switch, turn the power off and ring. Heat at a connection is the failure mode that does real damage, and it does not fix itself.

Yes — we take calls day and night. The one thing that can delay us is mobile coverage: if we are on a remote job and out of range, text and we will ring straight back as soon as we have signal.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no call-out fee for on-site quotes in town. Emergency and after-hours attendance is charged at our after-hours rate, and we will tell you what that is before we come out — not after.

What if the power is out for the whole street?

That is a network fault, not something on your side of the meter, and it is Power and Water's to fix. Ring us if you are unsure — we can usually tell you in a minute over the phone, and we would rather do that than charge you to come and look.

Can I just reset the switchboard myself?

Resetting a tripped safety switch is fine. If it will not reset, or anything smells hot or looks scorched, stop — that is a fault that needs finding, not switching back on. Everything past the powerpoint needs a licensed electrician.
