Sawtell Contracting NT Pty Ltd ("we," "us") respects your privacy. Here's what we collect through this website and why.
What we collect
Personal information: only what you type into one of our forms, and it depends which one you use.
- Every form: your name, phone number, email address, the suburb or location of the job, and what you tell us you need.
- If something is broken: what the power is doing, whether anything looks unsafe, and how soon you need someone. We ask so we can judge how urgent it is before we ring you.
- If you're after a quote or a project: the type of property, whether you own, rent or manage it, site access, your timeframe and a rough budget if you choose to give one. The budget field is optional and "prefer not to say" is one of the choices.
- If you apply for a trade or business account: your business name, ABN, who can authorise work, whether you need a purchase order, your billing contact and the site address or addresses. We need these to set an account up and to invoice correctly.
Beyond that, our website provider keeps the standard traffic logs every website generates. We record your browser type and the country your request came from so we can tell a real enquiry from an automated one. We deliberately do not store your IP address. There are no tracking cookies on this site, no advertising pixels, and nothing on any page is loaded from another company's server, so nothing here follows you around the web.
Measuring our own pages
We count how our own pages are used, so we can tell which ones actually help people and which services folks are asking about. We built this ourselves and it runs on our own website. No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no outside company involved at any point. Nothing is shared with anyone.
When you open a page or tap a link, we record:
- the address of the page you opened (e.g. /electrician-gillen-alice-springs/). Never anything typed after a ? in the address bar;
- whether you tapped a phone number, an email address, a quote button, or a link across to our co-op site, and which one;
- whether you're on a phone or a computer, worked out from the width of your screen;
- the name of the site you arrived from, if any (for example google.com). never what you searched for;
- the country the request came from.
There is no cookie, no login and no identifier of any kind, which means we genuinely cannot tell one visitor from another, cannot follow you from page to page, and cannot connect any of this to an enquiry you send us. It is a tally, not a trail. And because we are not asking a third party to watch you on our behalf, there is nothing here for you to opt out of and no cookie banner to click.
Why we collect it
Only to respond to you. To call you back, prepare a quote, set up an account, or get in touch about a job. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't send marketing to people who filled in a form to ask about a job.
Where it goes
The moment you press send, your enquiry is stored securely by Cloudflare, the company that hosts and protects this website. That happens first and on purpose: if we relied on an email getting through, a failure anywhere in the chain would lose your enquiry and neither of us would know. It is then transferred automatically to our own system here in Alice Springs, usually within a couple of minutes, and that is where we work from.
Because Cloudflare operates a worldwide network, your enquiry may be held on its servers outside Australia. Cloudflare is bound by its own contractual and privacy obligations for that data, and we keep no other copy anywhere offshore.
We don't sell, rent, or share your details with anyone outside our business, except where we're required to by law, or where a supplier or subcontractor genuinely needs it to help deliver your job (e.g. passing your site address to a subcontractor attending the same job).
How long we keep it
For as long as it's useful to our business relationship with you, and as required for our legal, accounting and tax obligations.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email Email us and we'll sort it out.
