East Side is one of the suburbs that grew up close to the town and the river as Alice Springs expanded beyond the original town site, and today it stretches from streets settled decades ago through to newer infill closer to the fringe. That range matters for an electrician: a house on an older East Side block is more likely to still be running its original switchboard than one on a newer block further out.

River-side suburbs like East Side also mean we factor in what's typical for an established block. Older meter boxes, and additions (a granny flat, a shed, a rebuilt carport) wired in after the original build that don't always sit cleanly on the existing circuits.
