What PIXIE Plus Is
PIXIE Plus is a smart home system from SAL National, an Australian family business. The switches, dimmers, power points, sensors and controllers talk to each other over Bluetooth mesh, a self-healing wireless network through the house. You run it all from one app, from a wall button or touch panel, or by voice. There is no central controller rack: no hub is needed for control inside the home, and a plug-in Gateway adds voice control and remote access when you want it.
It goes in on standard Australian wiring and fits most branded wall plates, so a licensed electrician can fit it to a home that is already built, without chasing new cables through every wall.
How It Compares With A Wired System Like C-Bus
A wired automation system such as C-Bus gives one control for the whole building: scenes, schedules and dimming, with a dedicated control cable running between its devices. PIXIE Plus does the same kind of job a different way. It uses Bluetooth mesh on your normal wiring, so there is no separate control cable to run. That is why it suits retrofits and renovations, and why you can start with one room and add more later.
For a large new build where the cabling is planned from the start, a wired system can still be the right choice. We will tell you which fits your job.
Which Suits?
- One room. A dimmer or switch in place of the one on the wall, a wall controller if you want a scene button, and the app. Add the Gateway if you want voice control.
- The whole home. Dimmers and switches in every room, smart power points, fan control and blinds, tied together with scenes such as Welcome Home and Goodbye. A touch panel by the door gives you the lot in one place.
- A shop or office. Motion sensors and timer switches turn lights and exhaust fans off when nobody needs them, and schedules run the signs and outdoor lights. The Gateway lets you check and change things from anywhere.

Questions Alice Springs customers ask
What is PIXIE Plus?
PIXIE Plus is a smart home system made by SAL National, an Australian company. The switches, dimmers and power points talk to each other over Bluetooth mesh and are run from one app or by voice. A licensed electrician installs it on standard Australian wiring.
Do I need a central controller?
No hub is needed for control inside the home. The Gateway is the one plug-in extra, and it adds voice control and remote access from anywhere.
Is it like C-Bus?
It does the same kind of job: scenes, schedules, dimming and one control for the whole house. The difference is how it is built. A wired system such as C-Bus runs a dedicated control cable between its devices. PIXIE Plus uses Bluetooth mesh on your normal wiring, so it can go into a home that is already built. For a large new build with the cable run planned from day one, either approach can suit. We will tell you which fits your job.
Does it need the internet?
Control at home works over the Bluetooth mesh. Voice control and remote access need the Gateway and your internet. Some devices, such as the timer switch, also work on their own from the wall.
Does it work with Google, Alexa and Siri?
Yes, through the Gateway. SAL lists Google, Alexa and Siri Shortcuts, plus Apple Watch, SmartThings, IFTTT and SONOS.
Can I start with one room?
Yes. Many people start with one room and add to it later. All the devices work together on the same app.
How much does it cost installed?
It depends on the rooms and what you want to control. Add the items you like to your list and send it to us. We quote the whole job. The quote is the price.
Do you work outside Alice Springs?
Yes. We work up to about 500 km from Alice Springs. For sites further out we usually quote from photos or satellite imagery first.
